NitroCoat™ Coatings — High Performance Protection at High Temperatures
NitroCoat™ thermal barrier coatings offer a unique combination of surface enhancing properties unlike any in the industry. Extreme temperature resistance, superior surface hardness, anti-galling, and enhanced anti-friction properties are among the many benefits of the NitroCoat™ process, making it the “coating of choice” in the high performance field.
Unlike typical sprayed-on or electroplated coatings, NitroCoat™ barrier coatings are chemically applied, using some of the most advanced application technology available in the industry. Very thin, dense, and extremely uniform coatings are easily applied to most metallic substrates. Under extremely severe conditions in the laboratory and in the field, high performance components coated with the NitroCoat™ process have consistently demonstrated significant performance-enhancing improvements.
Specific engineering properties are as follows:
- Physical Appearance – Satin finish, silver to gray “metallic” appearance
- Hardness – 63-70 Rockwell “C” scale
- Electrical Conductivity – Excellent
- Thermal Barrier Protection – Up to 1620°F melting point
- Uniformity – Excellent. Tolerances maintained within .0001″
- Adhesion to Substrate – 400 MPa (60 kpsi)
- Coefficient of Friction –
- NitroCoat™ vs. steel, lubricated condition: .13
- NitroCoat™ vs. steel, unlubricated condition: .4
- Solderability – Solderable with use of activated rosin (RA) flux
- Corrosion Resistance – Moderate. 96 hours Salt Spray per ASTM B117
